Certified Medical Assistant

Duties:

  • Immediately triage seriously ill patients and notifies nursing and/or provider staff
  • Maintains a smooth flow of patients into exam rooms as a top priority
  • Obtains accurate vital signs, as indicated
  • Obtains accurate and appropriate medical history for medical patient’s chart
  • Accurately updates all flow charts, including medication flow chart, per visit
  • Cooperatively assists medical providers with procedures (as trained by provider)
  • Restocks supplies in exam rooms
  • Keeps exam rooms clean and presentable for patient care. Ensures surgical instruments are sterilized and restocked and pelvic trays are restocked
  • Disinfects/cleans exam rooms (all surfaces) after each patient visit
  • Documents follow-through with appropriate personnel and patient/chart in progress notes written documentation of follow-through – top priority
  • Answers telephone and triage all incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls in a professional and respectful manner
  • Communicates with billing department regarding any progress or problems
  • Uses appropriate medical record documentation guidelines and techniques at all times
  • Job Requirements:

  • 2 years of medical assisting preferred
  • Certification of Medical Assistance required
  • CPR Certification required
  • Must travel to Hyndman and Richland offices occasionally to cover in emergencies
  • Licensed Practical Nurse

    Job Description:

    Functions in coordination with all medical providers, to assist in the provision of professional medical care and nursing support within a clinical setting. A Licensed Practical Nurse plays a critical role in the delivery of quality patient care within the context of a Federally Qualified Health Center. Assists the Medical Director and CEO in planning, developing, evaluating and implementing all clinical services, ensuring quality patient care and clinical efficiencies. Responsible for efficient patient traffic-flow.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with comprehensive patient examinations, screenings, and treatment of patients within the nurse’s scope of practice, using a systematic approach to history and physical appraisal of the patient
  • Provides appropriate counseling and health education to patients, providing necessary literature and instructions for continuity of care
  • Immediately triages seriously ill patients and notifies provider staff
  • Review and prioritize laboratory and test results in a timely manner for provider. Notifying provider of critical results immediately
  • With direction from provider, will call patients to communicate lab results
  • Able to accurately prepare, administer and record medications and/or procedures directed by medical provider
  • With direction from provider and per HAHC prescription refill policy, will process medication refills
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic and drug regimens; documenting and maintaining patient records of services provided according to prescribed program standards
  • Able to accurately execute technical clinical procedures when assigned
  • Able to maintain proper storage and handling of clinical equipment, supplies and drugs; ability to lift, carry and store supplies within the center as directed
  • Responsible for ensuring clinical policy manual and clinical compliance with all applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations governing primary health clinics and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC)
  • Supports the Patient Centered Medical Home initiative as directed by the CQI Team and Supervisor
  • Other clinical duties & responsibilities as assigned by Medical Director
  • General Duties:

  • Maintains confidentiality of all health center related information within the bounds of patient and professional confidentiality
  • Consistently demonstrates job knowledge and skills to perform all job responsibilities effectively and professionally
  • Identifies problems, makes recommendations and assists in developing solutions to resolve concerns with co-workers and supervisor professionally and constructively
  • Strives to improve operations, co-worker and teamwork within the department and with all other departments, Board and administration of the health center
  • Encourages the mission and goals of the health center at all times
  • Maintains a smooth flow of patients into exam rooms as a top priority
  • Obtains accurate vital signs
  • Obtains accurate and appropriate medical history for medical patient’s health record

  • Performs laboratory draws and in-house testing per office policy, standard precautions, and per recommended guidelines
  • Ability to travel to Hyndman or Richland offices occasionally for emergency coverage
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge & skills for the provision of patient care in the practice of primary health care that is age and culturally appropriate
  • Knowledge of the principles or growth and development of all life spans
  • Skill in communicating effectively with patients and their families; interpreting patient data for care requirements after medical assessment
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients and the general public
  • Licenses or Certifications Required:

  • License to practice in the State of Pennsylvania
